General

 

  • Smooth Bicycle Movers realize the cost and value of bicycles and therefore confirm that the utmost care will be taken during the transportation of bicycles to and from races in South Africa.

 

  • Smooth Bicycle Movers will not be liable for any action, damage, claim, theft, cost or expense that may arise directly or indirectly as consequence of any act and/or omission on the part of Smooth Bicycle Movers, its employees and/or agents (including negligence and gross negligence, except to the extent impermissible in terms of the Consumer Protection Act).

 

  • In addition to above Smooth Bicycle Movers will not be liable for any claim and/or damages sustained as a consequence of any act or failure which is beyond the reasonable control of Smooth Bicycle Movers, which shall include but not be limited to war, strike, riot, crime, or an event described as an act of God such as storms, flooding, earthquake, etc.

 

Insurance

 

  • Smooth Bicycle Movers is in no way involved with insurance cover for clients bicycles.

 

  • It is the client’s (your) responsibility to obtain sufficient insurance cover for your bicycle while left in the custody of Smooth Bicycle Movers and to inform your insurance provider of the transportation of your bicycle provided by Smooth Bicycle Movers.

 

Ownership

 

  • Ownership of your bicycle always rests with the cyclist, and is never transferred to Smooth Bicycle Movers during transportation of the bicycles.

 

  • Smooth Bicycle Movers retains ownership over all material used in order to transport your bicycle, such as the strapping material, identification stickers, sponges, blankets etc.

 

Bicycle Drop Off

 

  • It is not necessary to unclip the front wheel of your bicycle when dropping it off.

 

  • When dropping off the bike, all devices which are not permanently fastened to your bicycle, such as speedometers, cadence meters, heart rate monitors, etc. must be removed.

 

  • To collect your bicycle, you must tell us your password (chosen/selected at bicycle hand-in).

 

Cancellations

 

  • All cancellations received within a period of more than 14 days * before the date of the specific race for which the booking was made, will be entitled to a voucher of the same value. This voucher will be valid for twelve (12) months from the date of the cancelled race. (*Cape Town Cycle Tour, 21 days)

 

  • No voucher or refund will be made on any cancellation received within a period of less than 14 days * before the date of the specific race for which the booking was made. (Cape Town Cycle Tour, 21 days)

 

  • If the race is cancelled by the event organisers due to a natural disaster or emergency or as mentioned in both points above, No refunds will be issued in these circumstances.

 

  • If the race is postponed by the event organisers, your bicycle transport will also be carried over to the specific event.

 

  • Smooth Bicycle Movers may cancel the transportation of bicycles to the event up to 14 (FOURTEEN) days before the date of the specific race. 100% will be refunded to the client and Smooth Bicycle Movers will not be liable for any cost.

 

Personal information (POPIA Act)

 

  • Through the act of booking and payment for transportation of your bicycle with Smooth Bicycle Movers, the cyclist gives express permission for Smooth Bicycle Movers to make use of the personal information obtained in order to contact the cyclist with regards to future races and/or promotions offered as well as to make use of the cyclist’ personal information to further future business opportunities and database interests.
